Container ship sailing a trans-Pacific lane

Logistics project

Trans-Pacific Ocean Freight

180 FEU a year from Shanghai to Long Beach for a home-goods importer — pre-cleared before berthing, on a truck the same day, every sailing.

Overview

14 days at sea, zero days at port

The client imports furniture and décor on fixed retail replenishment cycles. Rolled containers and port dwell were blowing seasonal launches — one missed sailing meant empty shelves for six weeks.

The challenge

Peak-season roll risk, ISF penalties from a previous broker, and drayage booked after arrival — containers averaged 6 days of dwell and demurrage at Long Beach.

Our approach

We fixed allocations on two weekly sailings, filed ISF and entries 72 hours before berthing, and pre-booked drayage against the vessel ETA — drivers receive the release the hour the box grounds.
